1. Discuss Your Window or Door Project
Contact Imperial Windows & Doors for a free estimate. We will review the windows or doors you want to replace and explain the available energy-efficient product options.
You can receive an estimate before the home energy assessment, but no qualifying installation work should begin until the assessment has been completed.
2. Complete the Initial Home Energy Assessment
Before beginning any qualifying installation or renovation, a registered energy advisor from an approved Service Organization must inspect the home.
Imperial works with an independent inspection and home-energy assessment company and can help customers arrange the required assessment.
The registered energy advisor will inspect the home, provide an EnerGuide rating and prepare a Renovation Upgrade Report identifying recommended energy-efficiency improvements.
Homeowners can also review the program’s current list of approved Service Organizations.
3. Select at Least Two Qualifying Upgrades
After receiving the Renovation Upgrade Report, the homeowner chooses at least two qualifying upgrade categories.
Windows and doors count as one category. At least one additional qualifying upgrade must be selected and completed.
The registered energy advisor can explain which improvements are recommended for the home and what must be completed to meet the program requirements.
4. Complete the Window and Door Installation
Imperial Windows & Doors will professionally install the selected qualifying windows, entry doors or sliding patio doors.
We will provide the invoice and available product information for our portion of the project. Homeowners should keep the ENERGY STAR labels attached until after the follow-up assessment.
5. Complete the Additional Qualifying Upgrade
The second qualifying improvement must be completed according to the specifications in the Renovation Upgrade Report.
Different improvements may require different contractors. Confirm all requirements with the registered energy advisor before authorizing the work.
6. Schedule the Follow-Up Assessment
After all qualifying improvements have been completed, the homeowner must schedule a follow-up assessment through the same approved Service Organization that completed the initial assessment.
The advisor will inspect the completed work and collect the required invoices and supporting documentation.
7. Receive the Rebate
After the follow-up assessment is completed and the registered energy advisor submits all required documents, the rebate cheque should generally arrive by mail within approximately 60 days.
Processing times and final approval remain subject to the program administrator.
